This is a shorty folks-here is how to configure that new
US ROBOTICS Courier HST in about 3 shakes! Enclosed in
this here archive, you will find a ZIP file containing
the nifty TSR, KUTSGLUE.EXE and its attendant DOC files.
You will also find an ASCII file called MODEM.CFG, which
is a configuration string kindly provided by the SYSOP of
Wayne's World BBS in Tulsa Oklahoma (918-665-2711 [node 1])
(How's that for a plug, Wayne?!). To accomplish fast
cofiguration of that wonderful new modem, try this:
A)
Install the TSR KUTSGLUE-you can do this right out of the
archive, by using the "Executing Highlighted File" from the
SHEZ MISC popdown menu. Or do it the hard way and extract
and install KUTSGLUE on your drive-you will probably want
to anyway, as it is a good little utility.
B)
View the file MODEM.CFG with just about anything with
KUTSGLUE resident. Just about any viewing utility will do-
LIST.COM, PCTOOLS "View File" option, or even the little
DOS TYPE command (I used QDOSII, myself). While you have
the command line in the .CFG file on your screen, cut them
into the KUTSGLUE buffer, and exit the viewing utility-
you are almost done!
C)
Fire up your communications software, and get into terminal
mode. Activate KUTSGLUE again, and spill the various lines
onto the screen in terminal mode, pressing the "Enter" key
after each dump (make sure your modem DIP switch #10 is set
so that you can write new defaults to the NVRAM-see the modem
manual, if this is unclear), and your modem will reply with
the "OK" message. After you have spilled all the lines, and
you banish KUTSGLUE, give the modem the old ATZ-Enter goose,
and you are done-your modem is ready to smoke!
DONE!!!!!
Good luck with your new HST-see you online!
